Question: I bought 9 f series interior door handle sets that do not have square latch plates. is this plate snap on snap off interchangeable w/ the round ones that came with the black passage and private locksets? why do they not come w/ the square?

Answer: Yes, these are interchangeable. You just need to pry the round one off of the backplate and snap the square one on.

Answer: Hello Jenn, Unfortunately the round corner face plates are not available loose. They are only available when ordered with a latch. 16-210 or 16-080 Spring latch.

I was able to buy latch plates for Schlage from Door Hardware Center. All the other competitors wanted to sell you the whole assembly. I got 20 square cut bronze plates for cost of just 1 whole assembly elsewhere.

I'm a contractor remodeling a home for a client. The person who originally installed the lock sets took the easy way and didn't mortice the door edges and installed the latches with the round rings. Most of the rings are now missing. I ordered the latch plates but they don't come with the back plate to attach to the latch, Schlage doesn't supply that part, even though they probably have millions somewhere. Customer service tried their best to help and even gave me a contact at Schlage. Probably just replace the locksets, as the latch kits are more than $20 each and eat the money I paid for the plates.
