Baldwin mortise locks are constructed of solid brass. The interior components are all heavy duty as well. By constructing the mortise lock body and other interior components from solid brass and hardened steel, smooth operation as well as security is ensured for years to come. Baldwin mortise locks come in a variety of designs and finishes. Baldwin mortise locks require very specific door preperation to accept the large lock body that is "mortised" into the edge of the door. Single Cylinder:
A mortise entry set where the deadbolt locks by a key on the exterior and a turn piece on the interior of the lock. The latch is operated on the interior and exterior by a knob or lever.

Double Cylinder:
A mortise entry set where the deadbolt locks by a key on both the exterior and interior of the lock. The latch is operated on the interior and exterior by a knob or lever. **Double Cylinder locks on doors used for exiting a building or a home are a life safety hazard in times of emergency and are not recommended**

Dummy Set:
Dummy mortise entry sets are used in double door applications. The dummy mortise entry set is mounted to the inactive door while the single or double cylinder mortise entry set is mounted to the active door. Dummy sets perform no function and is used for symmetry only.
